If you and your new spouse have adventure in your blood or seek to escape the ordinary honeymoon, consider a getaway to Kodiak Island to start your life together.

Town-Based Honeymoon

There are many lovely bed and breakfasts and other accommodations to call your honeymoon suite.  Stay close to town and explore the island throughout the day and return to a comfortable, private home base with a view of the ocean each night.  You can go beach combing, bear viewing, sightseeing, hiking, fishing, kayaking, cycling or take in the museums and other town sites during your stay.

An “Out the Road” Honeymoon

You can enjoy wonderful solitude and privacy at one of Kodiak’s many bed and breakfast or other lodging facilities that lie outside of town, but still on the road system.  Closest to town (under 11 miles) is the Monashka Bay area.  Stay at a B&B tucked back in the woods but remain close enough to explore town.   The Chiniak and Pasagshak areas also offer abundant opportunity for solitude and a quite wilderness experience without flying out to the bush.

The Adventurous Honeymoon

Any of Kodiak’s wilderness lodges promise an adventure-filled honeymoon that will not soon be forgotten.  Spend a day fishing for halibut or salmon and return to your lodge for a meal of your freshly caught fish prepared by a gourmet chef.  Or walk the paths of the magnificent Kodiak bear and have honeymoon stories to tell your children and grandchildren.  Kayaking with sea otters and bird rookeries, fly fishing, and roaring campfires can all be a part of your unique Kodiak Island honeymoon.
